Queen Elizabeth II turned 95 years old on 21st April 2021. Her official birthday is celebrated on the 2nd Saturday in June. Not only is she the longest-reigning monarch in UK history, but also the only one to reach the age of 95. To mark this historic event, and personal achievement for The Queen, New Zealand has commissioned a limited-edition series of gold coins.
This 1oz gold coin features a stylised version of St Edwards Crown, the centrepiece of the Crown Jewels. It also heroes an image of the Queen wearing the fern brooch that was a gift to her on her state visit to New Zealand after her coronation, and the coin features 10 ferns on the rim - one for each decade of Her Majesty’s life. The St Edwards Crown is raised with a matte finish, and the surrounding surface is polished and mirrored.
All coins feature the small 'Crown over E' privy mark, which appears on the Queen’s Royal Standards for Commonwealth countries.
