P4 and an unlucky P2 for Burton at Silverstone
It was a P4 and a very unlucky P2 for Gus Burton in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Silverstone this last weekend.
The first race at Silverstone saw Gus start in P6 due to a below usual standards qualifying, which also included 3 sets of tyres being tried. But the race went ok considering who started in from of him. Gus managed to get past two during the race, coming in at a respectable 4th place.
The second race saw Gus starting as P2 as the reverse grid draw saw the 5-ball had been pulled out. Gus had a really good start and was P1 on the first corner. There he stayed for the duration of the race, never really troubled by the chasing Keirn Jewiss in P2. But, alas, on the penultimate lap Gus was penalised with a 5-second penalty for track limits infringement. Really upsetting. But as the front two were some 9 or 10 seconds ahead of P3 the punishment only meant Gus was related the one position to P2. A disappointing end to the weekend after so many other P1s with the two Ginettas.
Onwards to Brands Hatch in on the 8th and 9th October - the final meeting of the season.
