Freke Set To Return For The Final Race Of The G55 Class This Weekend
Century Motorsport makes history for the second time this year, as this weekend, we celebrate being the only team that both started in the first race of the Ginetta GT Supercup and the G55 class ten years ago, and are still there in its final race. This weekend we head back to Brands Hatch for the final race of the tenth anniversary season, which coincidentally is the same place the first race of the championship took place in 2011.
Team Principal and BRDC member, Nathan Freke competed in the debut season in 2011 of the Ginetta G55 and Ginetta GT Supercup for Century Motorsport. And this weekend will rather fittingly be competing in the final race of the G55, as next year will see the introduction of the new G56 class. Andy Spencer is unfortunately unable to compete this weekend, so Freke is jumping in the driver seat once more in a full circle moment.
Freke managed to get his seat just 3 days before the 2011 championship after securing a deal at the last minute with The Player Bookazine. In the first season of the Ginetta GT Supercup Championship, Nathan finished 4th overall, winning 6 races, getting 16 podiums, 2 pole positions and 8 fastest laps in The Player Century Motorsport car.
Nathan Freke – “It’s great to be back in the Ginetta Gt4 Supercup. An opportunity presented itself and it seemed only fitting to take it up given that I raced in the first G55 race in 2011 and now I’ll race in the last one. It will be interesting to see how I get on, somehow I don’t think I will be as quick as I used to be!”
Century are proud to have been part of the Ginetta series for so long and look forward to getting into the G56 next season in 2022.
